Welcome to the online art studio, aka the wired atelier*!

This blog is designed for students and families in Allison Fuller-Mulloy's SMHS Art Classes. It is a site for posting our daily work and homework (IWs) each week, ideas and images to explore further, reminders and due dates. I hope this blog will help students by reinforcing the week's major ideas and activities, giving make-up work for absentees, and providing families a look into the atelier every day!

Week 23... Back in the Studio!!

All classes will begin the week by cleaning, organizing, and restocking the art studio. Now that we're finally out of the computer lab and back into the Art studio gearing up to make some Art, it is important that all students have ownership and responsibility in their studio space. Each student will aide in this by completing a specific task (cleaning brushes, cutting paper, hanging artwork, etc).

Art 1 classes will be completing some drawing exercises aimed at refreshing our realistic drawing skills. Both group and individual grid drawings will challenge students to focus on drawing from reality instead of perception. First, an upside-down grid drawing based on a Picasso or Degas sketch. Next, a Pop Art self portrait painted on canvas using a grid drawing base. Lastly, students will create a group painting on canvas, each student completing one piece of the overall grid.

Advanced Art classes will be working on the 12 Peppers project. For this work of art, students will be creating 12 identical images on 4x4" paper of a fruit, vegetable, or an everyday object as subject, creating each one using a different medium. All 12 pieces will be mounted to one board to create one work of art. As always, a full IW should accompany each project.
